Judas Feet

So it's the end of September and oh, what a crazy month it's been. 2 hurricanes threatened our southeast Texas home. Gustav caused a mandatory evacuation of our little county, only to be a false alarm. The next week, as most people were driving back into town, Ike had us taking notice. Although most folks thought he was heading south of us, he took a nasty turn north and slammed right into us! If you haven't seen the pic's from Galveston or Bolivar Penninsula, you need to. The devastation is incredible. Those people who made their homes and careers there are in desperate need of our prayers and efforts.

Silsbee, our little town, was greatly affected, but not devastated like Galveston. We were without power for about a week and there are downed pine and oak trees everywhere. But Hurricane Rita, who hit us 3 years ago, caused more local damage. So, I guess in that sense, we are ok. But there's still lots of folks here in town that are in need. The community is really pulling together and helping out those folks. Churches are working together and anyone with a chainsaw and a trailer are getting a daily workout!

In the midst of all this nature, Judas Feet has experienced our most successful month ever! Our new cd, "Behind the Evening", officially released on September 1 and already has sold more than half as many copies as our first cd, "Not Alone", which came out in early 2007. We're hopeful that the sales trend continues up (we've got a long way to go to make back our investment!) and that the reviews continue to be positive.

We've also played more live shows in September than ever before. One was even during Hurricane Ike. He tried to disrupt our official CD release party in Waco - and to a certain extent, he succeeded - but what was intended to be an outdoor concert was moved indoors at Common Grounds, Waco where we played to a tightly packed house - literally, it was like sardines in there! So, we felt like we got the upper hand on ol' Ike on that one.

So, as September closes and a new month approaches, we are encouraged by many things in regards to our music. One, we just love to play it. It's so much fun. Two, we think you are enjoying it as well. If so, let us know. If YOU aren't enjoying it, then there's not much point in it, now is there? Three, there's been an interest in our sound by the music industry in Europe...we think we could handle a tour there. We'll get back to let you know if anything happens there.

Yes, September has been crazy. But, we'll take crazy. Bring on October!

For all you southeast Texans who've been so supportive and encouraging to us, we are offering you a little surprise. On August 9, we're doing a show at The Barking Dog in downtown Beaumont. At that show, we'll have advance copies of our new CD, "Behind the Evening" available for sale. This will be your only opportunity to purchase the CD before the official release date of September 1.

We're keeping the cost of our CD down at what we think CD's should sell for - $10. We don't buy into selling them for $15 at a show when anyone can walk into a retail outlet or go online and buy them for $10 - $12. We don't understand why so many bands do that to their loyal fans. So, for everyone who shows up, you will be able to buy the CD for $10 (or buy 2 or 10 of them!)
